Demand change

People want less unplanned stranger contact even when cheap, close, object-rich sites remain.

This is the clean demand hypothesis. It is not proven by empty expensive clubs, by long car trips, or by dead malls. It requires sites that still meet the primary definition on price, access, and affordances. If those rooms are also empty, or used only by pre-made groups, demand has shifted. If those rooms fill and the empty rooms are the expensive, remote, or object-stripped ones, demand is not the main story.

Fails if use of the remaining qualifying sites is high, or if stated aversion to strangers does not predict staying away when a qualifying site is actually available.
