Loss of Gender Specific Spaces

Many historic third spaces were once considered predominately if not exclusively sex-specific. Those spaces may have had many functions that do not exist in the same manner in mixed spaces. Legal and social pressure against those formats, plus closure of male-typical and female-typical sites that hosted regulars, reduced either the number of qualifying rooms or the willingness of one sex to use the mixed remainder.
