Higher Social Threat Perception

<p>As generalized trust fell, casual rooms were recoded as threatening. Strangers stopped being treated as predictably bound by the same local codes, so lingering and unplanned contact stopped feeling cheap.</p><p>The site can still exist. What declines is use of the site as a third place, because patrons treat it like a sex, age, neighborhood inequality risk environment: shorter dwell, groups only, eyes on belongings, no conversation with unknowns.</p><p>Fails if trust and perceived stranger-threat do not predict use of otherwise qualifying sites, or if high-trust and low-trust places with the same supply show the same casual-contact rates.</p>
