Neurodivergent adaptation selection pressure

ASD has increased due to certain symptoms at certain levels of severity increasing odds of successful reproduction/ larger number of offspring. An example for this hypothosis would be that online dating environments may favor certain behavioral tendencies of individuals with ASD which allows them to more easily find partners than the general population. This hypothosis draws from neurodivergence theory which states that certain mental disorders like ADHD or ASD are actually adaptations that are beneficial in certain environments and damaging in others. It also draws from the genetic/ hereditary hypothosis of ASD.
